summer reading meme

found this in the achieves over at julie's blog - one hand clapping - i remember reading her blog when she mentioned a science fiction/fantasy series (outlander - by diana gabaldon) that i have been meaning to read - and as i'm headed to the library with a need of good summer reading i did a search and found this - whan to play? here's the rules:

* Bold the ones you’ve read.
* Italicize the ones you want to read.
* Leave in normal text the ones that don’t interest you.
* Put in ALL CAPS those you haven’t heard of.
* Put a couple of asterisks by the ones you recommend.

(UPDATE - I liked Julie's/Erik's suggestion of putting (++) next to the ones you've seen the movie or TV show of, so I added that too)

(UPDATE 2 - bold & italicized don't show up in bloglines, so you'll have to click through if you care to see what i've read)

A Fine Balance is a really good read. So is Fall On Your Knees. That one is hard to put down and it's so thick that your day job may have to be put on hold until you're finished it.
My kids love anything by Orson Scott Card.
I also enjoyed the Stone Diaries.

I sometimes like to read a good story but since I met with the AA have found these "sort of self help / story" books like celestine prophesy hard to put down. I have just got "The Road Less Travelled" from Amazon and am about to jump into that one. I also love books on the new physics and cosmology

My all-time favorite fiction book is Redeeming Love by Francine Rivers. It's a must read. (And let me note that I despise romance novels. But this one is far beyond the typical.)
